This service provides our members with information concerning trade schools that offer skill development. We on the Board of The National Association of Heavy Equipment Operators are very concerned and focused upon how to best assist with the skill development of our members. We feel very strongly that increasing the skill level of the operator will increase the value of that individual as an operator and therefore increase their ability to better provide for themselves and their families. It is for this reason that we offer a school evaluation process and hope it will assist them with making a decision with regards to training facilities that offer skill development. We have created this ranking system and have opened it for participation to all Schools who train heavy equipment operators. Schools are ranked according to the following criteria.
- One star given for being a State Approval school and having a certificate form an organization such as the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education certificate.
- One star given for the school being certified by an agency listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency; such as ACCSCT: The Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology.
- One star for having a marketed website with the names and phone numbers of the graduates.
- One star for having an approved safety program within the heavy equipment training program that issues an OSHA certificate.
- Two stars for having an approved safety program within the heavy equipment program that issues a MSHA certificate.
- One star given for a satisfactory site visit.
- One star given for satisfactory graduate evaluations.
The maximum number of stars that a school may obtain is seven. Having a star means that the school has demonstrated having the requirement(s) for that star. Schools interested in participation should contact christopher.casey@naheo.org.
